My dad (VE2BUX) teached me morse caode when I was 12. I learned it pretty fast, of course the younger you are, the faster you learn.
13 years later, my first amateur radio licence was issued, under call VE2TLH. At that time, in the beginning of a law carrer, I did'nt have time for this wonderful hobby but made some radio sessions from 1995 to 1997, using a TS820S and a folded dipole for 40 meters.
Office and life kept me away from ham radio from 1998 to 2003, until I built my house.
In 2004, the city where I lived, Jonquière, was merged with 2 others to give bith of the 6th tallest city in importance in the province of Québec, the city of Saguenay. I decided it was time for me to get a 2 letters suffix call and chose VA2SG, SG for Saguenay.
Since 2005, I like working DX CW and digital modes, sometime more intense contesting, some other time, more on the relax side. I enjoy HF but like working 6 meters.
I began QRP portable operations in 2008. I now own a Yeasu FT-450AT, an Elecraft K1, a Hendricks PFR3 as well as some other HVF radios. I am involved in the VE2SOTA assocation as well as in the CGQ (Contest group du Québec).
Thanks for taking a couple minutes visiting my web page. After a 16 years law carrer, I am on the learning process to become official court stenotypist. Yes, it's possible to change a carreer at 42 years old. Hope the page gave you valuable information on my ham radio hobby. Thanks to my beloved ones, Benjamin, Thomas and Karine for giving me some time for the greatest hobby! 73! de JP
